Tomasa C. Hernandez, 81, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Silverio Hernandez; two sons: Cruz and (newborn)Vicente Hernandez; her mother, Euofrocina Placiencia Gonzalez; her father, Vicente Castillo; and one sister, Balbina Flores.
Surviving Tomasa are her eight children: Angel (Nora) Hernandez, Claudio (Martha) Hernandez, Victoria (Anacleto) Villarreal, George (Nora) Hernandez, Teresa (Rafael) Roux, Rosa (Jose Luna) Hernandez, Antonio (Martha) Hernandez, Esperanza (Edwardo) Manterola; her daughter-in-law, Lupita Hernandez; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Honoria Hernandez, Carmen Troncoso, Evangelina Barrera, America Lopez; and five brothers: Pancho “Francisco” Martinez, Arnulfo Gonzalez, Anselmo Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, and Martin Herbert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are: Vicente Luna, Greg Hernandez, Thomas Roux, Marco Hernandez, Danny Hernandez, Claudio Hernandez Jr., Juan Silverio Hernandez, Edward Hernandez, Edwin Garza; and serving as an honorary pallbearer is Eduardo Manterola.
