Jose Nicolas Hernández, 57, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Jose moved to Port Isabel, Texas when he was 18 years old. He worked in Washington State, North Dakota before settling in Port Isabel. He worked at Zinco Marine, Inc. for many years before becoming a water plant operator for the Laguna Madre Water District. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio Hernández. Jose is survived by his loving wife, Ester Hernández; two daughters: Leilani Hernández and Alana Hernández; his mother, Maria Jesus Lopez Tovar; and nine siblings: Dolores Hernández, Diana Hernández, Maria Hernández, Gregorio Hernández, Jaime Hernández, Francisco Hernández, Hector Hernández, Sergio Hernández, and Adolfo Hernández. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
