Antonia P. Lopez, 93, of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. She was a very loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and being with family. She graduated from Rio Hondo High School in 1942. Antonia retired from Levi Strauss and Co. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her parents, Benigno Plata and Maria Cavazos Plata; her husband, Raul Lopez Sr.; son, Roel Lopez; and daughter, Minerva L. Garza; siblings: Nonito Plata, Sr. Lucinda P. Garcia, and Pedro Plata. Survivors include: son, Raul (Rita) Lopez Jr.; sibling, Jesus (+Celia) Plata; grandchildren: Roel (Veronica) Garza, Marta I. (Eloy) Garcia, Michael (Celeste) Lopez, Carlos (Andrea) Lopez, and Rebeckah M. Lopez. In addition, Antonia is survived by 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. May God’s healing hand console our heavy hearts, as she now wears a victorious crown of everlasting life we here on earth can only imagine. Antonia will be dearly missed. She’s finally with our maker and her beloved husband whom she longed to see. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
