Nicolas Hernandez, 74, of La Paloma, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his residence. Nicolas worked in agriculture most of his life. He was a strong man who enjoyed life, always joking with family and friends. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Hose Hernandez and Maria Aguirre; and one sister, Evangelina. He is survived by his life companion, Rufina Beltran; two sons: Nicolas (Angie) Hernandez, Jr. of California and Joel (Deborah) Hernandez; and one daughter, Doracelia (Agustin) Hernandez, all of California. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters: Jose (Eleonor) Hernandez of Ohio, Antonio (Francisca) Hernandez of La Paloma, Rolando (Ignacia) Hernandez of San Benito, Salvador (Maria) Hernandez of Edinburg, Yolanda (Dolores) Corrals of San Benito, Refugia (Juan) Ornelas of San Benito, Hilda (Felipe) Naranjo of La Paloma, Norma (Jose) Silos of Florida, Diane (Rudy) Vela of Raymondville, and Esmeralda (Martin) Villafranco of San Benito; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church with burial to follow at La Paloma Cemetery.
