MARK EDWARD CASSIDY suddenly departed this life on May 22, 2016 for his eternal reward. Mark was born on March 17, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Vincent E. and Mildred Lentz Cassidy.He was the sixth of seven children and the first boy. Mark was raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia where he was educated and worked in deck-building and home construction. He was preceded in death by his Father, Vincent E. Cassidy, and Sister, Andrea M. Cassidy. Mark is survived by his Mother, Mildred L. Cassidy, Sisters, Donna M. Cassidy, Janice A. Cassidy (Joel Smith), Christine C. De Bellis, Carol L. Oswald (David), and one Brother, Paul P. Cassidy. Mark relocated to the Valley in 2009 and continued his true passion – savings stray cats. He never met a cat that wasn’t cute or in need of his compassion and caring. He adopted, doted on, fussed over and indulged a significant number of stray cats who are today lost without him. The Family will receive visitors from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Thomae Garza Funeral Home, 395 South Sam Houston, San Benito, Texas Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A. M. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 1425 North Sam Houston, San Benito, Texas with Father Isaac Erondu officiating. Honored to be serving as pallbearers are Paul P. Cassidy, Jerry Cardenas, Benjamin Alaniz, Michael Rodriguez and Antonio Ibarra. Honorary pallbearers are Joel P. Smith, Severo Beltran, Robert Day and Kim Trinkley. In lieu of flowers, please consider adopting one of Mark’s children. They are neutered/spayed with rabies shots and will receive vaccinations prior to adoption. They have all been raised indoors and are quite cuddly. Mark saw merit in the least of God’s creatures.
