Gerbasio “Batcho” Colunga, 89, of San Benito, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of May 10, 2016. His life was one of storied adventure, kindness, and love. Gerbasio was a WWII Veteran, enjoyed his weekend of fishing, sitting outside with his dogs, Enano, Snoopy, and Charlie, and having his family coming from Montana; A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Fausta Colunga; three children: Calistro (Cynthia) Colunga, Sylvia (George) Rides at the Doore; Delia (Bob) Keele; grandchildren: Jeremy Colunga, Rafael Eric (Melyssa) Colunga, John Joe Colunga, Maria “Mere” (Steven) Perez, Brandi Colunga-Ortega, Robbie Doom III, Christopher Lugo, Bobby, Jacob, Andrew, Michael, and Frankie Keele; great-grandkids: Charles “Monkey” Robert Keele III, Isabella Keele, Gabriella Keele, Fernando Gerbasio Keele, Steven Potter, Mila Rose, Dominick Jameson, Kaiden and Meriah Colunga, and his little Indians as he would call them- Romeo, Angel Lee, Baby Clayton Wellknown, Xavier Barnhardt, and Lyla- La Werita. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park with military honors to be conducted at graveside by American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen, Texas.
