Vicente E. Garcia, 69, of Rio Hondo, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas. Mr. Garcia was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marines from 1966-1971 and honorably discharged as Corporal. He was a shrimper and diesel mechanic in the shrimping industry. He will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Severo Garcia and Margarita Espinosa Garcia; three brothers: Enrique Garcia, Arturo Garcia and Magarito Garcia. Vicente is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Maria Gloria Garcia; five children: George Cepeda, Jose Jesus Cepeda, Maria Elizabeth Cepeda, Amily Williams, and Debra Ortega; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Lee Williams, Crystal Williams, Sophia Maria Williams, Jasmine Avalos Ortega, Javier Jose Ortega, Jaime Ortega and Monica April Ortega; two siblings: George E. Garcia and Fidela Ramirez. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral home Funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito with full military honors to be conducted by American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen to follow.
