Blanca Elva Zurita, 69, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into rest on Monday, October 12, 2015 at her residence. She was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Blanca was an avid fan of the Port Isabel Tarpons and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a very strict, clean person who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Villarreal Sr. and Gertrudis Bermudez Villarreal. Surviving her is her husband of 34 years, Guadalupe “Lupe” Zurita; one daughter, Ana (Jesus) Cepeda; three sons: Juan “Pancho” Salazar, Pete Zurita, and Lupe (Bianca Bocanegra) Zurita, Jr. ; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Martinez; eight brothers: Carlos Salazar, Jesus Salazar, Juan Villarreal, Pedro Villarreal, Jr., Candelario Villarreal, Pablo Villarreal, Rogelio Villarreal, Javier Villarreal and Joe Villarreal. Also surviving her are several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Ted Castillo, Roger Villarreal, Jr., Raul Villarreal, Juan Villarreal, Jr., Juan Carlos Villarreal, Stephen Salazar, Arturo Orozco, Ismael Basaldua; and honorary pallbearer, Christian Tanner Zurita.
