Obituary of Oralia Dorsett Ortega

Oralia Dorsett Ortega left her time on this Earth and her soul is now in the Heavens. She died August 22, 2015 in Mission, TX. She was 75 years old. Oralia will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her extraordinary courage. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Oralia was born in Brownsville, Texas on January 20, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Charles Dorsett and Guadalupe Martinez. Her entire life was centered around the well-being of her family and late husband, Victor Ortega, Jr.
She called home a small farm located near Rio Hondo, TX. Her home, “The Espiritu Santo Grant” which was so named by the Spanish settlers who first came into the Valley to settle this vast wilderness was her haven and sanctuary. She felt at peace there. She worked for 25 years with the Rio Hondo ISD Food Service Department.
Oralia’s living children are Victor Ortega III of Tulsa, OK and Charlie (Julia) Ortega of Cleburne, TX; daughters: Belinda O. Klein (Stanley) of Mission, TX, Theresa Ann Ortega of Flagstaff, AZ, Melissa O. (Miguel) Montes of Oregon and Elizabeth O (Gabriel) Valdez of Seguin, TX. Mrs. Oralia Ortega also enjoyed her sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Other surviving relatives include sisters: Theresa Martinez of Houston, TX, Esther Reyes of Houston, TX, Lucy Medina of Brownsville, TX, Mary Dorsett of Brownsville, TX, Emily Dorsett of Brownsville, TX; brothers: Charlie Dorsett, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Jesse Dorsett of Fullerton, CA, James Dorsett of Premont, TX, and Archie Henry Dorsett of Brownsville, TX.
Oralia was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Ortega, Jr.; by her parents, Charles Dorsett Sr. and Guadalupe Martinez; brother Alberto Dorsett, all from Brownsville, TX.
Visitation will be held 0n Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen, TX. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX.
Serving as pallbearers: Charlie Ortega, Victor Ortega III, Israel Ortega, Charlie Ortega Jr., Joshua Garza, Archie Dorsett, Adrian Dorsett, and Alberto Dorsett, Jr.
