In Loving Memory - Laurie Cantu, born March 23, 1960 and raised in Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2015. Laurie was a strong, hard-working, and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend who will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Carlos G. Cantu, Sr.; sister, Linda Ray Cantu; and brother, Joe C. Cantu. Laurie Cantu is survived by her mother, Veronica C. Cantu; her children: Ana Laura (Alberto) Villarreal III, Jose Luis (Merida) Cantu, Roxanne (Roberto C.) Castro, Jennifer (Jose G.) Arizpe Jr., Erica Marie (Victor) Rivera, Billie Jean (Oscar) Contreras, all of Port Isabel; brothers: Thomas (Wife), Carlos Jr., Jesus, Jose Guadalupe (Wife),, Andy, Roberto, Felipe, Jimmy, Fred (Wife); sisters: Cecilia, Nena, Veronica (husband), and Rosario (husband); 14 grandchildren: Andrew Lee Villarreal, Adam Lee Villarreal, Essan Cantu, Evan Cantu, Essance Cantu, Albert Lucio Villarreal, Adda Almazan, Jewelius X. Castillo, Melanie Garza, Valerie Contreras, Ariana Rivera ,Karina Contreras, Jose Arizpe III, and Laurie Rae Rivera; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
