Elvia Villarreal Salazar, 76, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed on to be with the Lord on June 16, 2015 in her sleep after battling cancer. She was an active member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. For over thirty years, she and her husband worked to unite marriages through the Catholic-based Movimiento Familiar Cristiano. A long-time resident of Port Isabel, Elvia is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Alfonso Salazar; three daughters: Elva (Hernan)Figueroa, Blanca (Zeke) Martinez, and Mary (Victor) Chavez; two sons, Alfonso Salazar, Jr. and Eduardo (Alondra) Salazar; and twelve grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
