Pedro Gonzalez, 36, of Laguna Vista, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2007 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alberto Z. Barrera; paternal grandparents, Pedro and Julia Gonzalez; maternal grandparents, Victor and Salud Sanchez Rivera. Pedro graduated in 1988 from Port Isabel High School. He was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He worked for the United States Postal Service since 1996 in Brownsville as a postman in the Rural Route Carrier Division. He is survived by his loving wife, Gregoria "Gogie" B. Gonzalez; his children, Perla Salud Gonzalez, Pedro Alberto Gonzalez, and Abigail Evangelina Gonzalez all of Laguna Vista; his parents, Pedro Gonzalez Jr., and Olivia Rivera Gonzalez of Laguna Vista, Texas; four sisters, Noemi (Harry) Lincoln of Brownsville, Sandra Gonzalez of Port Isabel, Olivia (Freddy) Gonzalez of San Antonio, and Lily Gonzalez of Port Isabel; mother-in-law, Evangelina Barrera of Port Isabel, several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Visitation will be held today, Monday, July 9, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and viewing will continue in the evening at the church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel and Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Julio Cesar Colunga, Martin Turrubiate, Roger Ramirez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Alberto Barrera Jr., Andres Ramon Barrera, Rolando Reyes, and Alfredo Gonzalez.
