Raul “Boat” Gonzales, 64, of San Benito, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Raul was born on August 27, 1950 to Inocencio M. and Guadalupe C. Gonzales of San Benito, Texas. He was employed at Levi Strauss for 30 years until its closing. He was a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed Elvis Presley songs and movies. He was a lifetime member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, where he served as an usher. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Juliana Gonzales; father-in-law Matias Martinez; mother-in-law, Luz Y. Martinez; and his brother-in-law, Juan Y. Martinez. To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Hilda Gonzales; his son, Raul Antonio Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; and his daughter, Cassandra Ann Gonzales of Austin, Texas. Also surviving him are his sisters: Paulita (Felipe) Pedraza and Inocencia Cantu, both of San Benito; Maria Luisa (Eliseo) De Leon and Olga (Michael) Gray, both of Weslaco, Texas; Delia (Rene) Garcia, and Maria Estella (Rogelio) Lopez; his brothers: Reynaldo C. (Evila) Gonzales and Ricardo Gonzales, of San Benito, Texas; his sisters-in-law, Jesusita Martinez and Delia Martinez; his brother-in-law, Guadalupe (Lydia) Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
