Maria Isabel Gonzalez, 75 years young, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into the kingdom of God on Tuesday March 10, 2015 at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Isabel was known as a Godly woman. She is the proud owner of Isabel's Cafe which was established May 25, 1973. Her restaurant was not only her place of business but her ministry as well. She ministered to woman and young couples after hours. She also used her food as a tool to spread the word of God. She was a member of Temple Maranatha and served as deacon. She received many awards for her dedication to God and her community. We would like to thank our customers, friends and family for your love, support and kind words. Knowing that so many people cared about her is comforting and means a lot to our family. She is preceded in death her husband, Manuel Gonzalez; her mom, Maria Guadalupe Sanchez; her sister, Maria Guadalupe Garza; and her grandson, Jose Alfredo Salinas Jr. She is survived by 6 children: Dora (Pablo) Ramos, America (Roberto) Bonilla, Manuel (Sonia) Gonzalez, Maria Gonzalez, Blanca (Marc) Farias and Veronica (Chris) Perez; 19 grandchildren: Sarai, PJ, Anai, Susan Lee, Andy, Gina, Jonathan Lee, Alex, Adriana, Marco, JR, Alexis, Jennifer, Joseph, Darianne, Christian, Maddie and Lucas; nine great-grandchildren: Samantha, Isabella, JR, Chris, Gabriella, Adrian, Holsen II, Harmony and Brianna; Father Andres Sanchez ; 2 sisters, Susan (Thomas) Turner and Ameila (Juan) Coutino; and one brother, Andy Sanchez. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
