San Benito - Maria Covarrubias Prieto, 98, passed away February, 19, 2007 at her residence in San Benito. She was a resident of San Benito for the past 18 years and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Ms Prieto is survived by 4 daughters, Eufrosina P. Gonzalez; Maria Del Rosario P. Gonzalez; Maria Concepcion P. Rios; Estela P. Sanchez; 7 sons, Ramon Prieto; Jose S. Prieto; Jose C. Prieto; Jose G. Prieto; Francisco Prieto; Jesus Prieto; Juan Jose Prieto; Numerous grandchildren, great - grandchildren, and great - great grandchildren. Also surviving her are 4 sisters, Candelaria C. Cervantes; Maria Del Carmen Covarrubias; Cresencia Covarrubias; and Maria de Jesus Covarrubias; 1 brother, Antonio Covarrubias. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 23, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Erica Prieto, Rosa Prieto, Rocio Prieto, Elisa Sanchez, Hilda Prieto, Esmeralda Sanchez, Juana Maria Prieto, and Elizabeth Prieto.
