Santiago "Jimmy" Ochoa Jr., 85, of Port Isabel, TX, entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. He was a life-long resident of Port Isabel and member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was an entrepreneur in the shrimp industry for many years and the owner of Jimmy Marines Bait Stand and RV Parks. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents: Santiago and Severa Torres Ochoa Sr.; one son, Rolando Ochoa; two sons -in-law: Jesus R. Garza and Juan Manuel Lopez; two brothers: Isidoro and Samuel Ochoa; and two great-grandsons: Andres Bernal and Ernest R. Grienier. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bertha T. Ochoa of Port Isabel; six children: Nora (Reyes) Guillen, Jose Fronoy (Amelia) Ochoa Sr., Santiago (Sofia) Ochoa III, Maria de Jesus Garza, Patricia (Arturo Bennett) and Sally Ochoa, all of Port Isabel; 35 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lauro (Ana) Ochoa and one sister, Elva Camacho, both of Port Isabel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, TX. Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Committal service will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
