Purvis Aljean "Jack Mock", 91, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at his residence in Port Isabel, TX, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on April 15, 1920. He was married to Berrel Mock in 1941 and arrived in Port Isabel in 1949. He started his own business, Marine Electric Services in 1951. He was an active member of the Quarterback Club, the Lions Club, and a big Tarpon fan. Besides cooking his famous brisket for fundraisers or functions, Jack donated toys for the Port Isabel Schools at Christmas time. He was a life-long member of the Port Isabel Fire Department and loved spending time with family and friends. Jack will be missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his two children, Frances Augusta (Dale) Verrett and Butch (Alma) Mock; five grandchildren: Jennifer Lee Mock, Sidney Doras Mock, Maura Monique Chapman-Rivera, Paul Anthony Chapman, and Anthony Maurice Chapman; six great-grandchildren: Nadia Marie Mock, Sidney Anthony "Trey" Mock, Andrew Cole Mock, Keri Lane Chapman, Payton Maurice Chapman, and Evan Garret Chapman; He is also survived by one great-great grandchild, Aidan Lee Mock. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Cremation will follow at a later date in accordance to his wishes.
