Port Isabel, TX- Edwin J. Hein, 73, was born December 7th, 1936, as one of 10 children on a farm in South Dakota; passed away on November 17th, 2010. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Delores McGregor of 33 years of Laguna Vista, TX and York, NE; his children, Kevin Hein (Laura) of York, NE; Eddie Hein(Susanna); Sandra Singleton, of Chickasha, OK; along with his stepchildren, Vicki McGregor; David McGregor(Bonnie) of York, NE; 10 grandchildren; Lacey, Kaysha, Bryce, Kassy, Kyle, Kalyssa, Karina, Mikal, Martiens and Eddie.; 5 step-grandchildren, Eric, Tara, Luke, Austin, and Tristan; and 4 step-great grandchildren. Mr. Hein is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. and Genevieve Hein; his previous wife, Betty Ruby Hein of 18 years; four brothers, Fred, Walter, Gustave, and Robert; three sisters, Doris, Edna and Ruby; Survived are Louis Hein of SD and Gert Hein of AZ. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He made a living at custom harvesting for nearly 40 years. His passions included fishing, gardening, traveling, and farming. Viewing for family and friends will be held at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Full Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard of Brownsville, TX at 2 P.M.
