San Benito, TX- Gila Puente Rendon, 86, entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Harlingen Medical Center. Gila was born on September 1, 1924 and was about to celebrate her 87th birthday. She was a life-long resident of San Benito and was an Avon representative for many years. She enjoyed cooking while having family over and loved to grow her roses. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Florencio Felix and Francisca M. Puente; her son, Reynaldo Rendon; her half-sisters, Santos Vasquez and Valentina Salazar; and her half-brothers, Manuel Salazar and Florencio Puente. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 63 years, Victor L. Rendon; her children: Rosalinda (Jose) Rodriguez, Victor Rendon Jr., Rodolfo (Josefa) Rendon, Lucila Lopez, Diana Mark, Cynthia (Armando) Weaver, Elizabeth (Mark) Sherman, Rolando (JoAnn) Rendon, and Milton (Ermelinda) Rendon; She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Committal service will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
