Brownsville, Texas - Floyd Virl Harber, Jr., 82 passed away peacefully at his home Friday, June 22, 2007. Virl was born in Streator, Illinois to Floyd Virl Harber & Arla Rose Erickson. He graduated from Streator High School and attended the University of Southern California. He moved back to Illinois in 1945 and farmed for over twenty years. He was an active member of the community and participated on numerous boards. He was chairman of the LaSalle County Soil and Conservation District and a Director of Otter Creek and Allen Insurance Company. He retired in 1969 and moved to Brownsville, Texas, with his family. He and two partners purchased and developed Palm Resaca Mobile Home Park. He was a Real Estate Broker and founder of Palm Resaca Realty since 1972. He and his two sons founded J & H Auction. For sixty-one years he was an active member of the Elks and a member of the Al Amin Shrine since 1974. He was a 32nd. Degree Mason and a member of the Bedouwin Band. Surviving family members include his Daughter; Jan R. (Don) Farst of San Benito, Texas, 2 Sons; Jeffrey Virl Harber of Streator, Illinois, and Jon J. (Sheila) Harber of Harlingen, Texas. 8 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and his Sister; Phyllis Winkles of Dallas, Texas. Virl was a wonderful father, brother, friend and best buddy. He always put other's needs before his own. His family loves him and he will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shriners in c/o the Shrine Club located at 1 ½ Mi E Expressway 83, La Feria, Texas 78559.
