San Benito, TX- Simon Torres, 90, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen . He owned Modern Shoe Shop in San Benito for 15 years. (1978-1993)
Simon is preceded in death by his wife, Mauricia Torres; his parents, Gregoria and Tomas Torres; a granddaughter, Alicia DeLeon; and 2 brothers, Moises Torres and Marcelino Torres.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria DeLeon; a grandson, Raymond DeLeon; 4 granddaughters, Carmen (Raul) Garcia, Rosa Edna (Arturo) Rodriguez, Marisela (Juan) Ramirez and Mari (Anival) Cestoros; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Marcos Torres and 2 sisters, Reyes Gutierrez and Carmen Gonzalez; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito .
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery .
