San Benito, TX- San Juanita B. Vega, 59, of San Benito, TX passed away May 23, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen surrounded by her family. San Juanita was born in San Benito in 1951 and raised in San Angelo, TX; she captured the heart of her surviving husband of 40 years, Ynosencio Vega, Jr., at the age of 17 and returned to her hometown.
At the age of 6, she started working endless hours in tortilla factories which continued into adulthood. She has left us in peace after a 24 year battle with Chron's Disease.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Barrera Mendoza and Augustina Mireles; and her sister, Delia Rodriguez.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, San Juanita leaves behind to cherish her wonderful memory her husband, Ynosencio Vega, Jr., her loving children, Maria Alicia, Rolando, Jaime and Javier; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Nazario Barrera; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Valley Baptist Medical Center Physicians and staff, the GI lab, Pallative Care, Odyssey Hospice, San Benito Medical Associates, Amor Home Health and United Home Care; including all friends and family for their love and support.
