Obituary of Odelia Snell

Odelia Snell Golterman, 67, of Port Isabel, TX passed away on May 4, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. She was born January 19, 1943 in McAllen, Texas and was a resident of Port Isabel for 42 years. Odelia worked for the Port Isabel Independent School District for over 20 years where she was recognized valley wide for her effort and success in promoting the federally funded program, Building Bridges. She was a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel and was actively involved with churches of all denominations to help the needy, often traveling to Matamoros, Mexico to deliver food and clothes to the less fortunate. Odelia is survived by her six children and their spouses: Aixa Snell and Christopher Baker of Burke, Virgina; Denise Snell and Peter Duro, Ralph Snell, Elmer Snell and Maria Gonzales, Eric Snell, and Jewel Snell all of San Antonio, Texas. She had ten grandchildren: Mirella and Sierra Baker, Carly and Peter Duro, Michael and Brittany Snell, Elmer III, Christian, and Emma Snell, and Rhiannon Snell. Odelia is also survived by her sister Olga Rosales and her five brothers: Jose E. Garza, Heron Garza, Joel Garza, Romeo Garza, and Roel Garza. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Elmer W. Snell, as well as her parents Jose G. and Tomasita Garza.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7th at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 8th at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with the funeral procession and interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Frank Mata, Jose E. Garza, Heron Garza, Joel Garza, Romeo Garza, and Roel Garza.
