Port Isabel, TX: Patrick Thomas Cavanaugh, 60, a Port Isabel resident of 17 years, succumbed to cancer Thursday morning, April 22, 2010, at Valley Regional Hospital. Patrick was the second son of John P. Cavanaugh and Lorraine (Cavanaugh) Chewning, born on March 22, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He is survived by one brother, Tim Cavanaugh and wife, Belinda of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Colleen M. Blackman of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Cathleen A. Jones and husband, Luther R. of San Benito, Texas; one brother, Michael J. Cavanaugh preceded him in death, as well as his father, John P. Cavanaugh. Patrick is survived by seven nephews: Daniel V. Gibson, Michael Shane Gibson, and Sean Patrick Blackman of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dillon R. Jones, Dakota R. Jones, and Dustin R. Jones of San Benito, Texas; and John P. Cavanaugh, son of Dinah Cavanaugh of Phoenix, Arizona. Patrick was an Honors Graduate of Goddard High School in Roswell, New Mexico. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor of Psychology from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Patrick loved the sunsets and beaches of Port Isabel, of which he called his home. Crematory arrangements are pending at Thomae-Garza Funeral Directors of San Benito. A celebration of his life will be held in Port Isabel with friends and friends in late May.
