Obituary of Carmen Gray

Harlingen, TX: Carmen Ann Gray, 73 of Harlingen went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2010 at her residence in Harlingen. Carmen was born to Vincent and Mary Bernardo in Rutland, VT; her family later moved to Emmetsburg, IA where she graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Carmen came to Texas in 1972 where she worked as a Legal Secretary and an Insurance Underwriter; she also worked as an Activities Director for Camelot Retirement Community. She finished her career as a Manager of R.C. Air Models. She loved to hit as many garage sales as she could every Saturday morning with her dear friend, Darlene Bordeaux; she spent every Wednesday night with her "girlfriends" at "Ladies Night Out"; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards and scrabble with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life and she thrived on every moment that she was able to spend with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Carmen is survived by her daughters, Jo (Curt) Jorpeland of Austin and Vicki Haub of Austin, her son, Tony (Megan) Gray of Knoxville, TN; a son-in-law, Jeff (Katie) Haub of Harlingen; her grandchildren, Camron Jorpeland, Ryan (Caroline) Jorpeland both of Austin; Devan Haub of San Antonio; and Dalton Haub of Harlingen; her great grandsons, Noah, Cohen and Mason Jorpeland of Austin; sister, Marie (Harold) Van Hofwegen of Arizona; brothers, Vincent (Joan) Bernardo of Iowa; and Patrick "Butchie" (Sandy) Bernardo of Florida; several nieces, nephews and a lifetime full of friends.
Carmen will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 3:30 P.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Harlingen.
