San Benito, TX- Anthony "Tony" Eck, 76 of San Benito, TX passed away, Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Marylan (Gerald) Faschbinder and Beverly Jones. Tony is survived by his wife, Donna Hill Eck; his children, Toni (Father Nickoli) Andrews of California, Tami (Jim) Rush of Florida, Teri (Rick +) Tarquino of Ohio, Mark (Janet) Eck of Illinois, Beth (Scott) Eck Buenger of Illinois, Larry (Tracy) Mueller of Illinois and Beth Anne (Jeff) Cline of Illinois; his brothers-in-law, Ken (Susan) Mueller and Dave (Karen) Mueller both of Illinois; his siblings, Pat Kline of Illinois, Edgar (Marva) Eck of Iowa, and Michael Bradford of Illinois; his grandchildren, Mason Eck, Travis Eck, Shawn Cline, Mallory Mueller, Michaela Mueller, Dustin Mueller, Larry Orpeza, Bryttany Buenger, Iean Buenger, Matthew Mueller, Kristen Meyer, Nick Meyer and Megan Turquino; his great grandchildren, Evelyn Orpeza and Dakota Meyer; and numerous nieces and nephews; along with his family of Sullivan Elementary in San Benito. Tony was a Korean Veteran stationed at Ft. Knox as a Tank Turret Trainer. In 1967 he joined the Granite City Police Department in Granite City, IL. In 1982 he became the cities first Psychological Stress Evaluator. In 1973 he and his children designed the Patrolman's patch that is even in use to this day. Tony received many certificates and accolades during his 22 year employment. He retired May 15, 1989, then he and his wife, Donna came to the Rio Grande Valley as Winter Texans in Brownsville. In 1990 they became permanent residents and moved to San Benito, TX. This move took him to new ventures such as rancher, exotic bird raiser, and finally lawn mower repair. He enjoyed every aspect that life gave him and will be fondly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to send a Thank You to HMC Hospital ICU and Solara Hospital ICU, your kindness and help went above and beyond; and a special thanks to Benchmark Pulmonary, Dr. Elizabeth Juarez, Dr. Lonnie Stanton and Dr. Oladayo Sanusi.
