Manuel Cantu, 88, of Los Fresnos went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Maria De los Angelus, his family, and many friends.
He was born on October 11, 1921 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Federico and Rosa Torres Cantu.
Manuel was a life resident of Los Fresnos and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Rosa Torres Cantu; his daughter, Yolanda Cantu; his twin brother, Pilar Cantu and brothers, Eduardo Cantu and Federico Cantu Jr.; his sisters, Aurora Cantu Bruce, Eloisa Cantu Ramirez, Olivia Cantu Gonzalez and Esther Cantu Alaniz;
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria De Los Angelus Cantu of Los Fresnos; his son, Manuel Cantu Jr. of Corpus Christi; his daughters, Maria (Robert) Longoria and Gloria Nunez both of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Angelica, George, Suzette and Roberto; his brother, Pedro T. (Teresita) Cantu of San Benito; his sister, Margarita C. Barradas of Houston, Texas; his sisters in law, Mercedes V. Cantu of Los Fresnos and Francisca B. Cantu of Victoria, Texas; Brother in law, Juan G. Gonzalez of Harlingen; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held today Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Visitation will continued on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with Mass of Reassertion to be held at 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 606 West Ocean Blvd. in Los Fresnos, Texas with Father Esteban Hernandez officiating. Committal Services will follow to Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito, Texas. . Words of comfort can be sent to the family of Manuel Cantu at www.thomaegarza.com
