I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Jose. I had the fortunate opportunity of meeting and the pleasure of working with him. He was one of the fewest honest-to-goodness person and friend I have known. I met Jose when he was about seventeen, riding along side us as a police explorer in Port Isabel. What I remember most about Jose was his enthusiasm for police work. Every night he would ride in the police car right besides us, in search of crime and a little excitement. He was an invaluable partner to have along with you, picking up on the smallest details of criminal activity, which would sometimes go unperceived even by the most veteran officer. I could tell that Jose had a deep love for police work, what else could have compelled him to stay up all-night, placing himself in harms way, without even getting paid a cent for it, when teenagers his age were sleeping warmly in the safety of their homes. As a dispatcher Jose was one of the most professional dispatchers who have ever held a life-line for me. I felt safe knowing that Jose was at the other end of my radio, and that he had my back. I am sure that everyone who met Jose has a good story to tell, and a good memory to remember. We are all the better for having known the wonderful kind spirit of Jose. “Chucky” you will be missed dear friend.
