Norman Edwin "Mac" McCarty, 75 passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen TX.
Mac was born on September 29,, 1934 to Maurice and Blanche McCarty in Forester Township, Michigan. Mac was a retired Air Force Major who served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Major McCarty retired with honors and then pursued a career as a Government Auditor. After retiring from a second career he pursued his dream and became a successful Commercial Red Snapper Fisherman with his brother, Donald.
Mac obtained a bachelors degree in accounting at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. He obtained his Masters degree at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Mac is preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife, Shirley Ann McCarty.
Mac is survived by his wife, Jeannie McCarty; his son, Norman Edwin "Pete" McCarty, Jr. and wife, Macedonia; his daughter, Norma Jean Cook and husband Jim; his grandchildren, Christopher Mills Reyes, Andria Nicole Reyes and Kristen Vail Cook; along with great granddaughter, Abbie Nichole Reyes; a brother, Donald McCarty; and four sisters; In addition Mac leaves behind many other family members who love, and respect him.
Mac was a man of numerous talents. Mac was generous to a fault, and was always willing to roll up his sleeves to the service of anyone in need, whether it was the United States Military, a family member, or friends. Mac's many kindnesses are known to those of us who loved him, and are too numerous to list.
Funeral services will be at sea and will be private with family members and close friends in attendance. The family asks to remember Mac in your heart. Services are pending.
