Yolanda Godoy Fierro, 74, of Port Isabel, TX passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Yolanda Fierro; Son, Gerardo Fierro; and her parents, Leon and Isabel Gomez Godoy; She was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church; she was a past member of Quarter Back Club of Port Isabel. She was a true fan of Port Isabel Tarpons, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns and loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Federico "Lico" Fierro of Port Isabel; 2 Daughters, Armandina (Thomas) Hernandez of Texas City, Texas and Deborah (Felipe) Brown of Los Fresnos; 2 Sons, Santiago F. (Irma) Fierro of Laguna Vista, Texas and Francisco X. (Martha) Fierro of Houston, Texas; 12 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; 3 Sisters, Elida (George+) Flores of Pharr, Texas, Antonia (Juan+) Zurita of Bayview, Texas and Dolores (Juan) Rodriguez of Clute, Texas; Sister in law, Margarita Fierro of Port Isabel, Texas and daughter in law, Romana Fierro of Port Isabel, Texas; Visitation will be held today August 1, 2011 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 02, 2011 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Gerry Barrett officiating. Cremation will follow in accordance to her wishes. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Martin Fierro, Armando Fierro, Michael Quintanilla, Jose Brown, Mark Brown and Angel Fierro.
