Los Indios, TX - Rito Barrera, Jr., 65, of Los Indios, TX, went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
He graduated from San Benito High School in 1964; and was employed with the City of Harlingen Fire Dept. where he retired as Lt. Fireman.
Mr. Barrera is preceded in death by his parents, Rito and Lydia Barrera.
Rito is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary C. Barrera; his children, Mariselda B. Rodriguez, Rene Barrera, Melinda Barrera and Ricky Barrera; a grandson, Rolando Rodriguez, Jr.; a brother, Erasmo (Dominga) Barrera; 2 sisters, Jovita Barrera and Anita (Placido) Ramirez; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 9: 00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
