San Benito - Hortencia Herrera ,85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2006 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Hortencia was preceded in death by her parents, Emilia Garcia and Manuel Cavazos; 2 children, Santos Herrera, Jr. And Homero Herrera; a sister, Arminda Mata; and 2 brothers, Cecilio Garcia and Ruben Cavazos. Left to honor and cherish her memory is her husband of 68 years, Santos Herrera of San Benito, TX; her children, Ofelia (Jose Antonio) Martinez, Olga (Jose Luis) Hernandez, Oralia Herrera, Jose Ofidio (Herminia) Herrera, Maria Del Rosario (Jose Luis) Salazar, Tencha Soria, all of San Benito, TX; Jose Olivo (Maria) Herrera of New Caney, TX; Olivia (Francisco) Soto, Jr. of Sauk Village, IL.; Josefina H. (Ernesto T.) Moreno of Houston, TX.; Oliverio (San Juana) Herrera, Evangelina (Ramon) Sandoval both of Rio Hondo, TX.; Odilia (Raul) Partida of La Marque, TX.; Otilia (Santiago) Trevino of Grand Prairie, TX.; 45 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. 11 Siblings, Leonarda Estrada, Melida Sanchez, Elpidio Garcia, Enedina Gonzales, Aurora Casarez, Ricardo Cavazos, Raquel Pendleton, Lydia Martinez, Rebecca Skeens, Daniel Cavazos, Hortencia Nevius, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, June 27 and 28, 2006 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, from 12 noon - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be held on both days at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jose Olivo Herrera, Jr., Oliverio Herrera, Jr., Jose Ofidio Herrera, Jr., Carlos Hernandez, Ramon Sandoval, Jr., Manuel Soria, III, Isaac Salazar, Juan Herrera, Domingo Moreno, Omar Partida, Francisco Soto, III, and Daniel Trevino.
