Rio Hondo, Texas: Berta Cantu Ortega, 81 of Rio Hondo entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2006 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Mrs. Ortega was a lifetime resident of Rio Hondo and a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor G. Ortega Sr.; Son, Homer Ortega; Parents, Andres and Manuela Gonzales Cantu; Sister, Maria Nieves Cantu; She is survived by her Son, Victor "Pache" (Ana) Ortega of Harlingen. 2 daughters, Lusila Ortega of Rio Hondo and Teresita (Sal) Sauceda of Rio Hondo. 9 Grandchildren: Tessa (Freddie) Lopez, Randy Sauceda, Victor (Nelda) Sauceda, John J. Alaniz, Jason Sauceda, Amanda Ortega, Crystal (John) Curry, Michael Ortega, and O.J. Ortega. 1 Great Granddaughter, Jalyssa Renae Sauceda. 2 Sisters, Angelita Ortega of Fresnos, California and Eloisa Reyna of Harlingen, Texas. Numerous nephews, Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held today June 26, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. tp 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary Recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home North Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Rio Hondo with Father Mario Castro officiating. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Randy Sauceda, Victor Sauceda, John J. Alaniz, Jason Sauceda, Michael Ortega, and O.J. Ortega.
