Esteban Pena Tamayo Sr.,83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2006 atValley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Esteban was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Germana T. Tamayo; His Parents, Jose Angel Tamayo and Tomasita Pena Tamayo; 2 daughters, Socorro Trujillo and Blanca Moreno; and 1 Son: Jesus Tamayo Left to honor and cherish his memory is his survived children: Esteban (Maribel) Tamayo Jr., Mario (Fidencia) Tamayo and Marina Saldivar all of Port Isabel. Javier Tamayo and Armando (Elva) Tamayo both of Brownsville. 3 Brothers, Charlie (Sharon) Tamayo and Robert Tamayo both of Iowa. And Antonio Tamayo of Corpus Christi, Texas. 3 Sisters, Esther Rivera of Minnesota , Dolores Lodrigue of Ft. Worth, Texas and Martha Michelle of Baytown, Texas. 13 Grandchildren, Marco Tamayo, Erika Tamayo, Rebekah Tamayo, Araceli Tamayo, Melinda Tamayo, Little Mario Tamayo, Brooke Contreras, Cindy Rangel, Jennifer Aguirre, Lupita Tamayo, Stephanie Tamayo, Pedro Moreno Jr. and Lisa Moreno. 7 Great Grandchildren, Ava Tamayo, Natasha Rodriguez, Estrella Rodriguez, Joey Rangel, Brandon Contreras, Mary Kate Rangel, and Federico Rangel. A Well-known resident of Port Isabel, Esteban was born on February 11, 1923 in La Feria, Texas and was 83 years old. He was a strong individual who loved all of his family, especially kids. He maintained a persona that he carried his entire life with vigor and stability, fighting for his life and never giving up. He was a hard worker for many years, supporting his whole family, regardless of any obstacle. He worked with the city of Port Isabel as a custodian, with the City Post Office, and with the company CP&L for more than 35 years. He was longtime member of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Even through these final trying times, he waved to everyone and held on tight to his family with love. Esteban will always be remembered for his love, kindness, and dedication to his family. Visitation will be held today Monday June 12, 2006 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home North Chapel from 12 noon - 9:00 p.m. with a prayer services to be held at 6:00 p.m.officiating by Pastor Manuel Rivera of Alfoli de Dios Church and Pastor Steven Hyde of Assembly of God Chruch. and a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. officating by Frances H. Etheridge and Antonio Gonzalez of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church. Visitation will continued at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 13, 2006 at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel with Funeral Mass begin at 10:00 a.m with Father Gerry Barrett officiating.. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel. Pallbearers will be Mario Tamayo, Mark Tamayo, Victor Conteras, Esteban Tamayo Jr., Antonio Tamayo and Rick Aguirre.
