Laguna Vista, TX- Shirley M. Privett, 89, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by loving family in Laguna Vista, Texas. Shirley was born in Fargo North Dakota in 1920 and was a 1938 graduate of Harlingen High School. She resided in Port Isabel from 1941 until moving to Laguna Vista in 2003. Shirley was active in her community over the years. She was Girl Scout Leader president of the PTA, Ladies Fire Dept. Aux., substitute teacher and served many years as an election clerk and judge. Shirley was also involved with the first TIFT. Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Clyde, her parents Earl Bassett and Gertrude Fromfelter, and two brothers Richard and Darrel She is survived by her four children, Bill of Dallas, Carol (Steve) Spoonemore of Corpus, Ann (Jon) Schroeder of Laguna Vista and David of Laguna Vista, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday November 8, 2009 from 12 noon to 9:00 P.M. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday November 9, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Privett, David Privett, Jon Schroeder, Steve Spoonemore, Billy Kenon and Kasey Parkey.
