San Benito, TX- Candido M. Ortiz, 78, of San Benito, TX passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his residence in San Benito.
Candido worked many years as a truck driver for various companies. After leaving truck driving he worked and managed several security companies. Years later Mr. Ortiz opened his own business, Ortiz Private Security Officer Training School. He was sole owner and manager of this school and shooting range. Mr. Ortiz took so much pride in his business and in his membership in Knights of Columbus Level 4. He was also an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his son, Candido Ortiz; his parents, Juan Jose and Rosa Ortiz; his brothers, Juan Ortiz and Benjamin Ortiz; and a sister, Carmen Villafuente.
Candido is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Leonila R. Ortiz; his daughters, Blanca Ortiz, Rosie Ortiz, Sylvia (Arturo) Lopez and Beatrice Jimenez; his sons, Candido (Margaret) Ortiz, Jr., Ricardo (Anabel) Ortiz and Juan Jose Ortiz; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jacinto (Mage) Ortiz. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a Special Thanks to Odyssey Healthcare nurses and staff for all they did for our dad these last few days; also to Dr. Simmons, Dr. Seudeal and Dr. Castillo.
