San Benito, TX- Ruben Davila Garcia, 75, of San Benito, went to be the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Ruben served in the United States Navy for 4 years; he also sponsored couples, assisted Marriage Encounter with St. Benedict Catholic Church and was a foster parent for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Silvestre and Juanita Garcia. Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dolores Garcia; his 4 sons, Ruben Jr. (Blanca) Garcia, Ricardo (Mary) Garcia, Rolando (Miriam) Garcia and Reymundo (Perla) Garcia; a daughter, Rosaura "Rosie" Garcia Flores; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and 3 brothers, Jose Garcia, Manuel Garcia and Rene Garcia; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Las Rucias Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruben Jr., Ricardo, Rolando, Reymundo, Ruben III and Ernesto; honorary pallbearers will be Aaron, Edgar, Ceasar and Rolando Jr. The family would like to Thank Cima Hospice nurses and staff, Dr. Nabeel Sarhill, Dr. Todd Shenkenberg and staff, and Dr. Luis Zepeda and staff.
