San Benito, TX- Christopher Lee Martinez, 26, went to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 22, 2009. He is preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Juan Reina Martinez; maternal great grandparents, Herculano and Augustina Sanchez; an Aunt, Esmerlinda Martinez; and 2 cousins, Mindy Martinez and Orlando Hernandez. Christopher is survived by his son, Joseph Christian Cantu; his sisters, Monica Rocha and Nancy Rocha (Israel Huerta); his brothers, Luis Perez, Jr. and Randy Jae Martinez; his grandmother, Maria Berta Martinez; his uncles, Juan R. (Leticia) Martinez and Gerardo (Dahlia) Martinez; his aunts, Delia (Eloy) Green, Racquel (Mickey) Rodriguez and Delia Rocha. Christopher was born to Cipriano Rocha and Virginia Martinez on February 9, 1983. He was a beloved father, son, grandson, brother, nephew and cousin who will be greatly missed; although Christopher's journey in life was far too short, his contagious smile and kind heart will live with us forever. An Army veteran, Christopher served as a Motor Transport Specialist; he earned a National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and an Overseas Ribbon. Christopher was employed with E and J Masonry in San Benito as a construction worker. Visitation were held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home located at 395 S. Sam Houston Blvd. in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerardo Martinez, Jr., Juan R. Martinez, Jr., Robert R. Rodriguez, , Juan Carlos "Charlie" Garcia and Richard Ramos.; and serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Rodriguez, Gerardo Martinez and Israel Huerta.
