Rio Hondo, TX- Don Jose M.V. Garcia, Sr., 75, of Rio Hondo, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009 at Harlingen Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his son, Esequiel "Zeke" Garcia; his parents, Esmerijildo and Ambrossia Garcia; 2 brothers, Roman Garcia and Lupe Infante; 3 sisters, Manuela V. Garcia, Maria V. Garcia and Berta Casango; and his 2nd wife, Virginia Garcia. Don Jose is survived by his loving wife, San Juanita M. Garcia; his children, Jose "Nino" Garcia, Jr. (fiancé, Valdra K. Williams), Maria A. (Arnoldo) Garcia Cortez, Juan Lopez Garcia (fiancé, Tammy Fox), and Ricardo (Tina) Garcia; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great - great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Antonia Infante and Eloisa V. Garcia. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Interment will follow to Rio Hondo Community Cemetery located on Madero Rd.
