Los Fresnos, Texas Agustina C. Reyes, 91 of Los Fresnos, Texas passed away peacefully in the loving and tender embrace of her immediate family on Sunday, March 25, 2007 early in the morning at Valley Baptist Medical Center of Harlingen, Texas. Mrs. Reyes was born on May 28, 1915 in Municipio Armadillo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Isabel Castillo, and Martina Avila Castillo. She immigrated at the age of 15 to the United States of America, arriving and settling in the area of Los Fresnos, Texas known to many of the older generation as "La Penusca". She was a hard worker. She began working at the Los Fresnos Canning Company and also did agricultural work in the Los Fresnos area. She finally retired in 1975 after 20 years of service with Booth Fisheries of Brownsville, Texas. She was a devout Catholic and a lifetime member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She loved to travel into Mexico to visit old friends and relatives. She was an outstanding cook; she loved cooking for her 4 sons and her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her big heart and generous nature, always giving to those less fortunate and in need. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by: 4 Sons: Ramon Ortiz - Los Fresnos, Texas; Ernesto (Criselda) Reyes - Dickinson, Texas; Ruben (Carmen) Reyes - Brownsville, Texas; Roberto (Maria) Reyes - Los Fresnos, Texas; 9 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. 4 Sisters: Felicitas Saldana - Los Fresnos, Texas; Piedad Escalante - Los Fresnos, Texas; Juanita Serrata - Los Fresnos, Texas; Lorenza Ybarra - Matamoros, Mexico She was preceded in death by: her 1st Husband; Felipe Ortiz, her 2nd Husband; Jesús Eliseo Reyes, Parents; Isabel Castillo, & Martina Avila Castillo; 2 children, Emilia Ortiz and Antonio Ortiz. Brothers; Catarino Castillo, and Ignacio "Tio Nacho" Castillo; Sisters; Maria Martinez, Lazara "Sara" Rendon, and Julia Moreno. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Martin Castillo, Ruben Reyes, Jr., Robert Reyes, Jr., Ernesto Reyes, Jr., Ivan Reyes, and Larry Trevino. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary @ 7:00 p.m., viewing will resume on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with a procession departing @ 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Cecilia Catholic Church for a funeral mass scheduled to begin @ 10:00 a.m., interment will follow to Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, Texas.
