San Benito, TX- Maria Isabel Benavidez, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX Maria Isabel is preceded by her husband, Fermin Benavidez, Sr.; daughter, Irma Benavidez; granddaughter, Cassandra Benavidez; great grandson, Jerry Benavidez, Jr.; sisters, Elena Guerra and Angelica Montemayor; and her brother, Jose Luis Garcia. Ms. Benavidez is survived by her children, Juan Enrique (Janie) Benavidez, Sr., Jorge Luis Benavidez, Ester Benavidez, Fermin (Yolanda) Benavidez, Jr., Andres Benavidez, Sr., Romeo (Diana) Benavidez, Sr., Jose Manuel Benavidez, Sr., and Rene (Rosemary) Benavidez, Sr.; a sister, Ofelia Guajardo; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. and on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited on both nights at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ignacio Catholic Church in El Ranchito. Interment will follow to Garcia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Juan Enrique Benavidez, Jr., Xavier Benavidez, Andres Benavidez, Jr., Michael Benavidez, Jose Manuel Benavidez, Jr. and Jerry Benavidez.
