He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, William Garfield and Cristabel Bodden; Maternal Grandfather, Luis Antonio Padilla; Paternal Uncles, William G. Bodden and Ethan Bodden; Father in Law, Benito Ochoa Jr. Whitman W. Bodden was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He was a captain and owned and operated "Daisy Patricia" shrimp boat for past 25 years. He was a Sgt. For the Cameron County Detention Center for 5 years and also served as an Honorary U.S. Marshall for United States Government. He worked as a Captain for Ryan Marine Services Inc. of Galveston, Texas; He survived by his loving wife, Marianella O. Bodden of Laguna Vista; His 2 daughters, Michelle Bodden and Shelby (Miguel) Hernandez both of Laguna Vista; 2 Sons, Whitman L. (Cassandra) Bodden of Edinburg and William J. Bodden of Laguna Vista; 3 Grandchildren, Jonah Hernandez, Lauren Hernandez, and Hailey Bodden; Maternal Grandmother, Leonor H. Padilla of Port Isabel; Parents, Lorance Whitman and Rosa Maria Bodden of Port Isabel; 3 Brothers, Luis (Vicky) Bodden of Laguna Vista, John (Marcia) Bodden of Port Isabel and Wilbur Bodden of Colorado; 3 Sisters, Rosa (Fred) Gonzalez of Laguna Vista, Gloria Bodden of Richardson, Texas and Daisy (Saul) Ochoa of Port Isabel; Mother in law, Maria Del Rosario Vega Ochoa; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces and Cousins. Visitation will be held today Wednesday February 25, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continued on Thursday February 26, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Mass of Resurrection will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel with Father Gerry Barrett officiating. Cremation will follow at Sacred Park Crematorium. Pallbearers will be John Bodden, Luis Bodden, Wilbur Bodden, Victor Garza, Bennie Ochoa III, and Ramon Alcocer. Honorary Pallbearers are Moises Galvan, Fred Gonzalez, Saul Ochoa, Johnny Ochoa, Steve Owens, Sandalio Alaniz, Myers Dixon, Greg Gutierrez & George Mora.
