William G. Bodden, 80 "Captain Bill" of Brownsville, passed away on February 14, 2009 at Solar Hospital in Brownsville.
"Captain Bill" was born in Jonesville, Roatan, Honduras C.A. where he was raised by his Uncle Turner and Aunt Amy Bodden; Captain Bill traveled the world and abroad in the Merchant Marine in the 1940's thru 1950's and settled in Brownsville in the 1960's as a Boat captain in the shrimp industry where he retired in 2000.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Bodden; His Parents, William Garfield and Cristabel Bodden; his brother, Ethan Bodden. William is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sara de Bodden of Brownsville; his loving children, Cecilia Bodden, Cristina Bodden, Helen (Tony) Akunebu, Martha Bodden, William L. (Janie) Bodden, Cristabel Bodden, David (Beatriz) Bodden, Ricardo (Claudia) Bodden and Claudia Bodden; 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter; His siblings, Otis Bodden, Florence Bodden, Gloria Thompson, Daisy Bodden, Lorance W. Bodden, Evelyn Dixon and Lennie Kitchenger and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held today Sunday February 15, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Bernard Rd. in Brownsville. Visitation will continued on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Resurrection to begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Eduardo Gomez officiating. Cremation will follow to Sacred Park Crematorium.
Pallbearers will be William Bodden, David Bodden, Ricardo Bodden, Lorance Bodden, John Bodden and Luis Bodden.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruben Alex Castillo, Luis Daniel Elorriaga, Whitman L. Bodden, Wilbert Bodden, Tony Copper and James Levy.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in memory of William G. Bodden to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Bernard Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521 or to The West Brownsville Lion Club, 434 Paredes Line Rd. Brownsville, Texas 78521.
The family would like to extend "Special Thanks" to the entire staff of Solara Hospital of Brownsville, Dr. Luis Robles, Dr A. Halloum with Dr. Jario Rodriguez and staff.
