S. Padre Island/Houston, TX - Roland 'Dutch" Gembala, 77, a long time Houston businessman passed away at his home on S. Padre Island on December 16, 2008.
He was born in Chicage, IL on January 22, 1931and served with the United States MarineCorps during the Korean conflict.
Dutch and his wife, Sally Jo, were married 40 years and lived in several parts of the country before moving to Houston in 1977. They owned Sally Jo's Old Houston Barbeque and then Double T's Bar & Grill. He was also active in Lion's Club International for many years.
Dutch is survived by his wife, Sally Jo; his children, John (Paula) of Spring; Karen Winnermark of Lisle IL; Cynthia Gembala of Crystal Lake, IL; and Linda (Joe) Atchley of Houston; a granddaughter, Jade of Crystal Lake, IL; 5 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren; his beloved sister, Dona Gembala (Bob Poch) of Porter, IN and cousins, Terence Tyksinski, Ralph Tyksinski and Helen Dawn Tidemann.
Dutch had a great love for God, family, the Marines and a good party. His friends are invited to his last party, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Double T's Bar & Grill located at 14933 Bellaire Blvd. in Houston. Memorial donations may be made to the Mission Bells Food Bank.
