Port Isabel, TX - Rodolfo "Rudy" F. Gonzalez, 72, of Port Isabel, TX passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. Mr. Gonzalez is preceded in death by his parents, Teodoro and Felicitas F. Gonzalez; and his sister, Lupita Martinez. Rodolfo was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church; he also worked for Cameron County Park System (Isla Blanca Park) for 40 years and retired in 1992. Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rachel C. Gonzalez of Port Isabel; 3 sons, Rudy J. Gonzalez Jr., Jaime J. Gonzalez and Noel Gonzalez all of Port Isabel; 5 grandchildren, Shelby C. Gonzalez, Jaime "J.J." Gonzalez, Jonathan Noel Gonzalez, Osean Noelle Gonzalez and Noel Gonzalez, Jr. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 12 Noon to 4:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and will continue from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church located at 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Cremation will follow to Sacred Park Crematorium. Pallbearers will be Mark Holland, Sebastian Lopez, Uvaldo Holland, Jr., Oscar Garza, Jr., Henry Holland and Charles Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in memory of Rodolfo Gonzalez to Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Tx. 78578. The family would like to extend a "Special Thanks" to The Heart Clinic of Harlingen and their staff and to Dr. Eduardo Flores who called Rudy his miracle patient for surviving the past 17 years.
