Obituary of Andrew Cummins
Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrew Christopher Cummins, 59, made the trip to a better place on Thursday, January 1, 2009, in his home in Laguna Vista, Texas.
He was born in Glendale, California to the late Andrew and Betty Cummins. He graduated from Estancia High School and Orange Coast College. Pursuing his love of the outdoors, he swam, surfed and sailed. Throughout the course of his life, his work evolved around being outdoors. He logged in northern California; worked at a lake resort in Elk Creek; was first mate on the sailboat LaSalee, and traveled around the world. In Texas, he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, working in construction. He was a true wood butcher.
During his time with us, he was a friend, a husband, father, grandfather and uncle. As a true Irishman, he kissed the Blarney stone and shared his Irish ways. He never knew a stranger. Andrew touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, maintaining his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon, son: Christopher, daughters: Shannon (husband Luis) and Katherine, sister: Frances, brother: Rojo, and Champagne. Grandchildren include: Emily, Brandon, Anthony, Matthew and Grace Emmarie. Michigan family includes: Roy & Florence Taylor, Butch & Marsha, Roy & Michele, Judi, Brian & Betty. Nieces include: Ashley, Kayla, Kenzie, Emilee, Jodi, Lauren, Monica and Stephanie.
A celebration of Andrew's life will be held at the Chapel by the Sea on South Padre Island, Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 10:00. A memorial fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank on South Padre Island.
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, A time to embrace and a time to refrain, A time to search and a time to give up, A time to keep and a time to throw away, A time to tear and a time to mend, A time to be silent and a time to speak, A time to love and a time to hate, A time for war and a time for peace. - Eccliastes 3:1-8
