Obituary of Paula Zapata

San Benito, TX: Paula C. Zapata, 95, passes away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her residence in San Benito; surrounded by her loving family. She spent much of her time doing what she loved most and that was planting flowers and playing chalupa at Family in Faith Adult Day Care; she also participated as an active member of St. Jude Prayer Meeting.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Zapata, her parents, Francisco and Francisca Carmona; Ms. Zapata was the last survivor of nine children.
Paula is survived by her daughters, Guadalupe (Fidel+) Martinez and Irma (Antonio) Fonseca; her sons, Martin (Rosa) Zapata and Julian (Juanita) Zapata; all of San Benito; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great - great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Our mother/grandmother will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers, will be her grandchildren, Robert Martinez, Eddie Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Rick Martinez, Martin Zapata, Jr., Julian Zapata, Jr., Ruben Fonseca and Segundo De La Paz, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfonso Zapata and Oscar Zapata.
