Port Isabel, TX- Gonzalo B. Holland, 74, of Port Isabel, TX passed away at his residence on November 24, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Gonzalo was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He was a shrimper for many years and owned "Miss Valerie" shrimp boat. He preceded in death by his Parents, Enrique and Isidra Holland Sr.;3 brothers, Enrique Holland Jr., Antonio Holland and Uvaldo Holland Sr.; and 1 sister, Delia Holland. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ninfa Holland of Port Isabel; His loving children, Hilda Holland, Frances (Dennis) Jewell, Michael (Suzanna) Holland, Gonzalo Holland Jr. and Patricia (Paul) Horton; 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth Mendoza, Nazario (Angelica) Mendoza Jr., Christopher Mendoza, Anthony Holland, Daniel Holland, Andrew Holland, Rebecca Jewell, Matthew Jewell, Miriam Jewell, Stephen Horton, Jacob Horton and Timothy Horton. 1 great grandchild, Nickalas Mendoza; 1 sister, Ana (Lauro) Ochoa; 1 brother, Vidal (Victoria) Holland Sr.; Sister in law, Emma Holland; also surviving many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Thursday 11/26/09 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday 11/27/09 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel.
